Kahin to hogi woh...

Jaane na kahaan woh duniya hai
Jaane na woh bhi ya nahin
Jahaan meri zindagi mujh se
Itni khafa nahin…

Even after more than one year, I am still in love with this song (from Jaane Tu..Ya Jaane Na)

Kudos to ARR and Abbas Tyrewala :)

Messiah of the Masses - YSR

More than 160 people died, some died of heart attack after they heard the shocking news and about 35 people committed suicide - is this a testimony to his popularity or sheer love people bestowed on him?

I don't think I will see another great leader like him again in my lifetime. The biggest strength that distinguished him from any other political leader was the way he connected with the masses, the poorest of the poor even in the remotest areas of the state. No wonder, most of the families in the state treated him as one of their family members and felt deeply saddened as if they lost their own family member.

About six months back, I was at a big corporate hospital in the city and happened to speak to an old man who came from a far away place to get some secondary treatment. I was literally shocked and surprised to hear how he pronounced YSR as God, because he told me that he couldn't have got the heart surgery done and survived had there not been Arogya Shree scheme, which was one of the flagship schemes launched by YSR. While I don't want to talk about umpteen schemes he launched and large-scale welfare schemes he started in his tenure, I would certainly say that he was a different leader who cared for the people who needed help.

People in Hyderabad don't know much about him because he hardly did anything for the city, honestly. While I agree on this upto some extent, he always believed that people outside Hyderabad needed help first than those who are here did!

I personally know how much people in the area I come from (Pulivendula in Kadapa district, his native place) have benefitted from his plethora of schemes during his tenure. No wonder, he never lost even a single election (6 times MLA and 4 times MP) in his long political career that span over 30 years.

He just turned 60 on Jul 2 this year and on Sep 2, 2009, he kept his promise that he made a few years back saying all the politicians should retire from politics when they complete 60 and make way for the younger generation.

YSR amar hai - may his soul rest in peace

No title, just read it if you like it!

..was going through my 'official' aunt(y)'s (http://axz-me.blogspot.com/) facebook (read 'official' as 'at work place') and thought I will also answer some of those silly questions as I am a big quizzing buff. So, I copied all those questions (some answers as well) and here we go:

1. What time did you get up this morning?
Well, by the time I got up, it was afternoon. So, this question should have been 'what time did you get up this afternoon/evening?'

Cycling Tall Amidst the Traffic Chaos

I wonder how he manages to avoid falling down when he has to stop suddenly in this chaotic traffic...

I think it's for some industrial purpose, otherwise who the hell will design such a tall bi-cycle!!

Dil gira kahin par dafatan

While most people liked 'Rehna tu,' I actually liked the other song immensely. It is a truly unique track in the album, integrating Indian folk with a Celtic ambience, all in the scope of a love song that begins in a very Boyzone-ish fashion and contains an unrestrained strumming in the background.

Also, 'lovely' is the use of the word 'dafatan' ('suddenly,' also translated as 'often'), often found in non-filmy ghazals and hardly ever in popular film songs.

Movie: Delhi-6
Music: A.R Rehman
Singer: Ash King
Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi

Dil gira kahin par dafatan
Dil gira kahin par dafatan

Jaane magar ye nayan
Teri khamosh zulfon ki gehraiyaan
Hai jahan dil mera uljha hua hai wahin kho gaya
Tu magar hai bekhabar hai bekhabar
Dil gira kahin par dafatan
Kyon goonj rahi hai dhadkan
Jaane magar ye nayan

Seepiyon ke honth se moti chhalak rahe hain
Ghazalon ki sohbat mein geet bhi behek rahe hain
Samundar lehron ki lehron ki chaadar odh ke so raha hai
Par main jaagu ek khumari ek nasha sa ek nasha sa ho raha hai
Tu magar hai bekhabar hai bekhabar
Dil gira kahin par dafatan
Kyon goonj rahi hai dhadkan

Jaane magar ye nayan
Khushbuon mein lipte mausam
Teri khamosh zulfon ki gehraiyaan
Hai jahan dil mera uljha hua hai wahin kho gaya
Tu magar hai bekhabar hai bekhabar
Dil gira kahin par dafatan

If you want the translation of this song, go to this link posted by 'TheBollywoodFan' blogger (Thank you Bollywood Fan! I hope I am not violating your copyright by posting the link here!!)

The interesting fact is that the R&B singer Ash King didn't know a word of Hindi, before he sang it!

My rating for this song: 4.75/5 :)

ESP or Just Sheer Coincidence!

I was writing a blog on this epic movie 'Cast Away' on last Sunday for the website passionforcinema.com and was just thinking, unlike in the movie Cast Away, what if that accident happens to a passenger plane...

Believe it or not..just after a few hours, I see the news reports of an Air France plane missing in the Atlantic ocean. I feel extremely bad about this..I don't know whether to call it my ESP or just sheer coincidence!

301st Spartan!

Today, I am proud to say that I became 301st Spartan! Wondering what crap I am talking about...Read below:

I am talking about my '300 workout.' I went to the gym and thought of doing something special today. So, I decided to do '300 Spartan workout.' I searched on YouTube for one 'module' and did 10 variations of 30 repetitions each in the presence of the gym coach and a few fellow regular gymmers. I successfully completed the entire cycle in 40min with some breaks.

Somebody, please call '108' to take me to either hospital or my home.

Going forward, I have decided to do it once a week and hopefully inspire many more Spartans to do it! Yay!!
